How to save Minsk in Baldur’s Gate 3 and solve the valve puzzle

We have already noted that Minsk is a legendary character in the Baldur’s Gate series. At the very least, rescuing him will give you a cool new companion and camp resident for your team, as well as a huge piece of content that is very easy to miss.

The bottom line is that if Jaheira dies for any reason during the second act, then, unfortunately, it will not work to save Minsk – the game will not even provide such an opportunity.

At the start of the attack on the Moon Towers, there is an 80% chance that the Master Harpist will jump onto the rampage and die there. Unfortunately, only loading the last save helps here, which we highly recommend before the battle begins. Of course, you can try to shower Jaheira with healing potions and restorative spells. But since her artificial intelligence leaves a lot to be desired, it’s easier to add a girl to your squad.

In the event that you send some Astarion to sit out and take Jaheira for yourself, you’ll avoid a large number of mediocre deaths, plus you’ll get the chance to resurrect the High Harpist if necessary.

It is worth considering that you can do this no earlier than the third act. You will have to complete the quest of Kina Nine-fingered or go alone to the Accounts Chamber, where you need to go to the lower floors, to the Vault. When you pass a serious door, a cutscene begins in which Minsk appears. The only problem is that he is somehow strange and quickly slips away, leaving the hero in not very pleasant company.

To find out where to look for Minsk next, simply search the corpses or pass a sighting check at vault No. 9. In other words, you need to go into the pit.

There are many ways. If you haven’t been there yet, the easiest way to follow the Emperor’s quest is at the Elfsong Tavern, where the character asks to search his former room. At the same location you will find one of the passages to the sewer. This can also be done through manholes and sewer grates that are scattered throughout the city. In the sewers there is a location called “Abandoned Cistern” – you need to go there. When you get to this spot, you’ll come across a locked door, three valves, and a lock that will require you to pass the athletics check. We didn’t get through it, so we had to solve everything using logic.

The bottom line is that one of the valves raises the temperature, the second the water level, and the third sets everything to zero in general. You need to make sure that the “Ideal temperature” and “Ideal water level” icons on the first two light up at the same time. You can do this by starting the water first, waiting a few seconds and unscrewing the heater.

The slogan of this battle is “Forget everything you knew before!”. And make sure you bring Jaheira. In no case should you allow the death of Minsk, and at the same time it is necessary that all other enemies near him die. We recommend that you do not even skimp on the treatment of a healthy man, because it is very important that he survives.

When there are much fewer enemies and only Minsk remains against you, you should switch to non-lethal attacks. You can do this in the passive skills menu on the bottom panel. This button is slightly lower than all your regular attacks. By the way, if Minsk’s health is approaching zero, forget about the existence of casters in your team – you just need to beat your hands.

If you do everything right, then he will simply fall into a knockout, and you will get a cutscene where the emperor will try to say nonsense in every possible way. You have to stand firm on your own, and thanks to the fact that you brought Jaheira to the squad, everything will be fine.

Once Minsk gets out of the influence of the Absolute, he will immediately run after his hamster named Boo. You just have to follow him and watch the adorable reunion scene. After all this, you can meet Minsk in your camp and calmly bring him to your squad – you need to aim at someone’s eyes.
