Nostalgia fans keep wondering when a new edition will kick off a summer favorite on TV. No official opening day has been confirmed yet, but the program’s official Twitter feed posted a message declaring that it is coming and that its return is imminent. Viewers are urged to stay tuned and verify the exact start date as the legendary summer show, aired by TVE, prepares to come back. Ramon Garcia stands alongside publisher Christine, actress Michelle Calvo, and Alicante’s own Wilbur the acrobat and comedian, in the familiar lineup that fans know well.

History of the Grand Prix premiere

Even with some secrecy, a red-letter date looms large: next Monday, July 17. The significance is clear, as it would mark the first broadcast of this show since 1995. Twenty-eight years later, indications point to today as the premiere moment.

Another tweet soon followed the first, hinting that the 2023 Grand Prix return will register on July 31. The two cities advancing from the semi finals and achieving the highest scores will compete for a prize of 30,000 euros.

A town from Alicante among the participants

The lineup includes Montesinos, the sole city from Alicante in the eight-city roster competing in this edition. The eight municipalities tasked with handling the new format feature a mix of regions as follows:

  • Aguilar de Campo, Palencia
  • Alpha, Grenade
  • Brion, A Coruña
  • Cervelló, Barcelona
  • Beja, Madrid
  • <li Montesinos, Alicante

  • Cineva, Asturias
  • Yes, Toledo

This will be the new Grand Prix

The competition comprises seven episodes where municipalities face off two by two. Points accumulate across challenges, and four programs will be eliminated, leading to two semifinals and a final. The contestant with the most points earns the win and the accompanying prize money that encourages self investment.

The first two counties to participate are Alfacar and Colmenarejo, joined by Lolita and Miguel Ángel Muñoz as notable contestants. The program will revisit classic games such as Los Troncos Locos, Los Bolos, and La Patata Caliente, while introducing new challenges with names like Scaling as you can, The Nursery, and The Pilot Dog. These are presented to test a range of skills from quick wit to teamwork, all in the spirit of summer entertainment and friendly competition.
