‘Poor creatures’ will hit cinemas in the final weekend of January, with premieres like The Three Musketeers: Milady and several Spanish titles lighting up the billboards. Other titles on the schedule include Everyone has a bad day and El Faro. Last Soldier features in theaters this Friday, alongside the French film Rodeo starring Pierce Brosnan.

Coming to cinemas from director Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor creatures is adapted from Alasdair Gray’s novel of the same name and recently earned the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Emma Stone leads the cast in a story about the evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman portrayed by the unconventional scientist Godwin Baxter, played by Willem Dafoe. The ensemble also features Ramy Youssef, Jack Barton, Kathryn Hunter, Charlie Hiscock, Vicki Pepperdine, Christopher Abbott, Attila Dobai, and Jerrod Carmichael in a remarkable production lineup.

Anyone having a bad day follows Eva Hache in her directorial debut, written by Jelen Morales. The film stars Ana Polvorosa, Agustín Jiménez, Barbara Mestanza, Juriji Der Klee, Aníbal Gómez, Goize Blanco and Ariana Martínez. The narrative centers on Sonia, a responsible, orderly woman with a highly developed sense of norms, who must confront a single, life-altering night after thirty-six years of restraint.

The Three Musketeers: Milady offers a fresh adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ classic, directed by Martin Bourboulon. This installment places its action in a France divided by religious conflict, with an ensemble that includes François Civil, Vincent Cassel, Romain Duris, Pio Marmaï, Eva Green, Louis Garrel, Vicky Krieps, Lyna Khoudri, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, and Eric Ruf. The ongoing threat of British incursions pushes a group of men and women to raise their swords and unite their destinies with France’s fate.

Rodeo, a French drama from Lola Quivoron, follows Julie Ledru as a self-reliant young woman who seeks to escape the high-risk world of urban rodeos where bikers perform dangerous stunts on their motorcycles. The cast also features Yannis Lafki, Antonia Buresi, Cody Schroeder, Louis Sotton, Junior Correia, Ahmed Hamdi, Dave Nsaman, Mustapha Dianka, and Mohamed Bettahar in a story about independence and risk.

El Faro brings together Hugo Silva and Irene Montalà in a psychological thriller directed by Ángeles Hernández. The plot follows Lidia and her father as they hide in a lighthouse to cope with the trauma of the mother’s accidental death. Yet as they settle in, nightmares begin to torment the girl and threaten their trust. Both characters must learn to rely on each other before dreams blur into a harsher reality.

Jade Halley Bartlett directs Miller’s Girl, a thriller exploring the boundaries of a teacher-student relationship. The film centers on a young woman with extraordinary writing talent who becomes entangled in a dangerous game of intellectual seduction when her teacher assigns a task that misreads and distorts professional lines. As the dynamic deepens, intrigue builds and the line between truth and perception becomes increasingly perilous.

Live inside marks the debut short from producer Bishal Dutta. It follows a young Indian-American girl who struggles to fit in at school. She chooses to distance herself from her culture and family to mimic her peers, but when a mythological demon spirit attaches to her former best friend, she is forced to embrace her heritage in order to defeat the menace.

Pierce Brosnan returns in Last Soldier, a wartime drama inspired by true events. Directed by Terry Loane, the film traces Artie Crawford, a courageous World War II veteran who escapes his Northern Ireland nursing home after the loss of his beloved wife. He sets out on a journey to France, uncovering the resilience of the human spirit and the necessity of facing the ghosts of yesterday to find peace.

Documentary Little Richard: I Am Everything chronicles the life of a legendary rock and roll icon who left an indelible mark on the music world.

Two animated films for younger viewers are also slated for this weekend. The Canterville Ghost follows a family relocating from the United States to England and discovering a haunted house. Patrick: Little Ones presents a heartfelt tale about a brave, one-winged butterfly who embarks on a transformative journey while seeking shelter in a trailer.
