Fashion Week was held for the 16th time on the grounds of the Ural Design Development Center in Yekaterinburg. From April 4 to 10, Russian designers, creating clothes for children and adults, showcased their new collections.
On the first day, the podium was occupied by brands from the Profi category – at least that’s how the organizers characterize them. The show was hosted by the Moscow brand Eleonora Amosova, as well as the BeZe Collection, the KD by Kristina Dolmatova brand with handmade products, the Elena Piskulina fashion house operating since 2009, the designer Larisa Sultanova and others.
It cannot be said that designers follow world fashion trends. The style of niche Yekaterinburg brands is developing quite markedly and not unlike the one promoted by the already famous big brands of the city. For example, 12Storeez, Ushatáva, Namelazz sew clothes in the style of conceptual minimalism and take inspiration from world fashion houses Maison Margiela, The Row, Celine. But they didn’t set the mood for Fashion Week.

Another show category at Fashion Week in Yekaterinburg was Debut, in which eight young designers, including those from the capital, participated. Daria Vinogradova, Polina Kokurina and Shura Semenova came from Moscow. The latter sews modern clothing for youth from fabrics left over from warehouses in the capital, purchased from Avito or donated by friends, and also uses a system for recycling and reusing plastic bags.
As Nadezhda Matyukhina, director of Fashion Week in Yekaterinburg, explains, everyone is welcome to attend Fashion Week: both beginners and well-known regional designers in their circles. “If a designer has a desire, a ready-made collection and organizational ability, we provide all our resources: a platform, models, stylists, publicity, photo and video reports in social networks and media,” Matyukhina tells Gazeta. ru.
A student festival, Fashion Debut, was also organized as part of the Fashion Week. One of the parts of the program was the competition “Avanguard in life and fashion”, in which more than 20 students from the Department of Clothing Design of the Ural State University of Architecture and Art participated.

During the Fashion Week, children’s clothing brands were shown for three days. More than 25 brands from Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Nevyansk, Kopeysk, Murom and Moscow participated in the Children’s Fashion Days. 800 people between the ages of 3-17 took the podium.
The brand is participating in the event for the seventh time, Natalya Vasenkova, designer of the Vasenkovy children’s clothing brand, told socialbites.ca. According to him, this helps to advertise the brand and gain new customers. For designer Natalia Mishukova, participation in Fashion Week is just a story of images. “We participate, we participate without pursuing any goal. It doesn’t increase any sales or customer flow,” she admits.
Anastasia Ovsyankina, chief designer of the children’s brand Striped Cat, hosted the show for the 10th time.
The clothes were created by 60 children’s designers who presented themselves on the runway. “We agree because we want to give children the opportunity to feel the atmosphere of the fashion industry from start to finish,” explains Ovsyankina. – The collection is prepared, as a rule, from 1.5 to 2 months. We produced over 200 pieces in 1.5 months and we believe they will compete with emerging brands such as Zara, H&M and Bershka.”

However, the basis of the collections of children’s clothing brands were not basic things sold in the mass market, but fluffy tulle dresses, ruffled T-shirts in neon colors, knitted skirts and asymmetrical tops and hoodies.
Fashion shows of 30+ models made their finals in Fashion Week. Among the participants, knitwear designer Elena Prokhorova is attending Fashion Week for the 14th time. “It took three and a half months to create the Celestial Symphony knitwear collection, which I will present in the 16th season of Fashion Week. And for the production of the “Line of Life” collection. With love, six months, ”the fashion designer tells socialbites.ca. As a result, Elena Prokhorova presented 20 bows in Yekaterinburg.
More than 50 brands took part in EKBFW and nearly two thousand people attended the fairs. But the organizers refused to indicate the exact number of tickets sold, the cost of which was 1.5 thousand rubles.
When asked by socialbites.ca how successful the director of Fashion Week in Yekaterinburg found the project, Nadezhda Matyukhina replied: “We are holding Fashion Week for the 16th time, this is the main engine of the fashion industry in the Ural-Siberian region, this is the region that demonstrates the professionalism and strong potential of Russian designers. It is an image activity for According to her, within eight years, “the project has grown into a large-scale fashion event involving more than 5,000 people.”
It should be noted that Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia, which was supposed to be held in Moscow from March 16-20, did not take place.
