The artistic director of the Maly Theater, Yuri Solomin, a People’s Artist of Russia, will remain hospitalized through the New Year. This update came from his grandson in a conversation tracked by RT.
According to the family, doctors decided to keep Solomin in the hospital after reviewing control tests. Solomin has been in care since November 6, when an accident in the courtyard of his central Moscow residence led to an ambulance being summoned by the driver.
On November 14, Mash Telegram channel reported that Solomin had developed double pneumonia.
On November 17, Tamara Mikhailova, director of the Maly Theater, stated that Solomin’s limbs, which were affected after a stroke, had begun to respond, though he remained in the hospital. She also noted that his condition was stable yet serious.
On December 14, Mikhailova announced that Solomin was preparing for discharge.
Yuri Solomin was born on June 18, 1935, in Chita. He began teaching acting at the Shchepkin Higher Theater School in 1961 and has appeared in nearly 60 films and television series. In 1988 he received the title of People’s Artist of the USSR, a recognition for his extensive work in Soviet and Russian cinema and theater.
