The renowned People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Solomin remains in the intensive care unit of a Moscow hospital, with doctors describing his condition as serious. This update comes from a source within the medical facility cited by RIA Novosti.
A hospital source told RIA Novosti that the situation is grave, with the actor conscious and breathing on his own. The same source noted that Solomin was admitted to the anesthesia and intensive care unit for patients experiencing acute cerebrovascular events.
The artistic director of the Maly Theater has confirmed the stroke diagnosis. On the day of his hospital admission, the 88-year-old actor reported weakness in his left arm, dizziness, and speech difficulties, all classic signs of a stroke. A CT scan conducted after his arrival at the hospital corroborated the diagnosis, according to a Telegram channel report referenced by press outlets.
Mash reports that Solomin’s condition is further complicated by hypertension, diabetes, and atherosclerosis. He underwent coronary artery bypass surgery a decade ago.
Medical officials say a formal report is still pending. The hospital has not yet provided a definitive assessment of the seriousness of the situation, pending the full medical examination results. The socialbites.ca outlet quotes Taisiya Galygina, the press secretary for the Russian State Academic Maly Theater, noting that a diagnosis had not yet been confirmed at that time.
Earlier incident in the garden
Solomin was hospitalized after losing consciousness while walking in the courtyard of his Moscow home on Spiridonyevsky Road. When medical personnel arrived, the actor regained consciousness but reported weakness in his left arm, dizziness, and nausea. Initial examinations did not reveal paralysis, though doctors observed a sudden rise in blood pressure as a possible cause of the incident.
Sources close to the Maly Theater told MK that Solomin spent several days under medical supervision and was moved to intensive care on November 7. The timeline suggests a sequence of medical events following the initial episode in the garden.
