The University of Alicante showcased its cherished Christmas Concert Series, a tradition that returns this year with three performances across Villena, Petrr, and Alicante. The joint presentation brings together the UA Music Class ensembles, including the Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir. Thanks to the collaboration of the OFUA director, this musical challenge marks a first for the Christmas Concert Series, guided by Tobias Gosmann and choirmaster Shlomo Rodríguez.

The Philharmonic Director announced a program featuring overtures and choruses from beloved operas, alongside selections from zarzuela. Audiences will hear pieces from Orfeo ed Euridice, Norma, Macbeth, Il Trovatore, Nabucco, Cavalleria Rusticana, Doña Francisquita, and The Sold Bride, reimagined for this festive showcase.

This concert series thrives through the support of OFUA’s sponsors: the Manuel Peláez Castillo Foundation, Vectalia, and the Rotary Club Alicante, whose partnership helps bring the event to the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium (ADDA).

KA The UA Christmas Concerts will begin Thursday, December 14, at 20:00, at the Villena Chapí Theater. This performance is part of the “Chapí Classical Thursdays” cycle and is realized in collaboration with the City Hall and the University Headquarters in Villena. Admission is five euros and can be purchased through the theater’s website.

On Friday, December 15, OFUA and Coral UA take the stage at ADDA for a Rotary-UA Christmas Benefit Concert. The event supports Aspanion and the San Rafael de Santa Phase Center. Tickets are fifteen euros and can be bought now or at the auditorium box office one hour before the performance. A Line 0 option is available for those who wish to contribute remotely.

The Christmas cycle concludes on Wednesday, December 20, at Cervantes de Petrer Theater, with a 19:30 start. Admission is free but seating is limited to venue capacity. Local government and university partners collaborate to make this final performance accessible to the community.

The concert series also carries a charitable dimension. Aspanion, a Valencia Community association supporting families of children with cancer, is one beneficiary of the proceeds. Founded in 1985 by affected families, Aspanion’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for children and teenagers facing cancer and their families.

The second beneficiary is the San Rafael Santa Phase Center, which provides care for people with mental disabilities and others needing special attention due to their social or personal circumstances. The foundation supports individuals toward greater autonomy, offering flexible care models that emphasize normalization and meaningful social and family participation. The effort centers on empowerment and practical support to help people shape their own best possible life, within a caring community.
