Actor Tom Holland has announced a pause from his demanding career. He shared the news in a recent interview with Extra, noting a need to step back for a year to recharge and refocus.
Holland’s decision follows a intense period of workload, including his lead role in the series The Crowded Room. In this project, he portrays Danny Sullivan, a character living with dissociative identity disorder. The challenge of embodying a character who experiences multiple personalities weighed on him, yet his interest in mental health deeply motivated the choice.
“I felt it was time to tell a story about mental health and trauma. The experience offered a chance to help others understand how powerful the mind can be, capable of both healing and harm,” Holland explained in the conversation.
During production, the process proved taxing for the actor, prompting him to pause filming temporarily. He reflected on the effort, noting that while hard work has always been a core belief, the demands of the series took a toll and he needed a break to recover.
The first season of the anthology series The Crowded Room draws inspiration from Daniel Keyes novel The Curious Case of Billy Milligan.
