Reimagining Valencian Contemporary Culture: 100 Projects Picked for an Online and Physical Exhibition

The Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana has announced the authors behind one hundred selected projects in the latest call. This initiative, part of the #CMCVaCasa Online Culture program, will showcase hundreds of cultural works across digital platforms—an essential facet of the basic search experience—and will culminate in a major physical exhibition. The display runs from May 11 in the Ferreres and Goerlich rooms at the Center del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) and will extend through the Consorci de Museus’ web presence and social networks.

Continuing a 2023 model designed to sustain contemporary creativity during pandemic times, the program operates with a budget of 200,000 euros. It invites 100 selected projects submitted by professionals in art, research, and thought who were born or reside in the Valencian Community. The opportunity also engages galleries across the Valencian Community, highlighting work in both theory and practice within the visual arts.

“The aim was to reactivate this call from the Consorci de Museus in 2023 to keep supporting digital artistic proposals. These works are key to developing the industry and bringing contemporary culture closer to society, thanks to their ability to travel beyond traditional theatre. The variety and quality of projects submitted in this issue once again demonstrate the Valencian Community’s talent is linked to new creative tools,” states José Luis Pérez Pont, director of the organization and the Center del Carme.

innovative character

A notable emphasis was placed on proposals with an innovative character, a willingness to experiment with languages and discourses, high quality, relevance, and the potential to broaden the reach of the Valencian creative scene.

The jury responsible for selecting the projects was chaired by the General Director of Culture and Heritage and included the Chair of the CMCV Scientific-Artistic Commission, Carmen Amoraga, along with professionals from varied fields of contemporary creativity: Cristina Ghetti, a visual artist recommended by AVVAC; Luisa Pastor Mirambell, Ph.D. of Fine Arts and cultural manager, at the recommendation of AVCA; Alejandra Bueno, a visual artist recommended by MAV; Angel Martinez, President of the Valencian Community Designers Association; Virginia Murcia Garcia, art director, designer, and researcher, with the recommendation of APIV; and José Luis PerezPont, Managing Director of the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana.

The result is a collective exhibition of 100 projects planned for presentation on May 11, 2023, in the Ferreres and Goerlich halls and across the Consorci de Museus’ website and social networks.
