Patricia Guerrero, Maduixa, Circus Night: Flamenco, Dance, and Theatre in Alicante & Alcoy

Patricia Guerrero’s flamenco language

Patricia Guerrero is widely regarded as one of the finest contemporary bailaoras. She earned the National Dance Award in 2021 and many other recognitions. Born in Granada in 1990, she arrived in Alicante on a Friday with her show to close the Mediterranean Flamenco Festival. The performance will be accompanied on stage by the Mediterranean Foundation, featuring guitarist Daniel Morón, a respected figure in the current flamenco scene for his instrument. Her singing is provided by Sergio El Colorao and percussion by Augustine Diasera, partners who contribute depth, rhythm, and mastery to every offering.

The show Endless Process comes to the festival, inviting the audience to join Guerrero as she journeys through life’s cycles and patterns, returning to starting points with renewed energy. The work emphasizes a direct, musical approach to dance, blending traditional flamenco foundations with contemporary choreography and sensibility.

Guerrero began dancing at a very young age and has since treated flamenco as her language. The bailaora builds public engagement through constructed movement, then deconstructs it with each step. She seamlessly weaves traditional flamenco aesthetics into modern dance, while maintaining the art’s pure, expressive core.

Throughout her artistic career she has collaborated with flamenco luminaries such as Mario Maya, Rubén Olmo, and Arcángel, and has acted twice for filmmaker Carlos Saura. Her 2016 premiere Cathedrale established her as a rising artist, while the project Utopia, which evolved into Dystopia, premiered at the Biennale de Flamenco in Seville in 2018. According to the Mediterranean Alicante Foundation, the event begins Friday at 20:30 with a ticket price of 30 euros.
