To mark the 200th anniversary of the Russian playwright Alexander Ostrovsky, the Bakhrushinsky Theater Museum has released a set of 28 Telegram stickers. This initiative was announced by a major Russian newspaper in its coverage.
The sticker pack draws its inspiration from Ostrovsky’s plays and the museum’s preserved stage sketches. It features familiar phrases and titles from Ostrovsky’s best known works, including lines like Do not ride in your sled, Guilty without guilt, Not all Maslenitsa for the cat, and Our people – let’s get along. The collection aims to capture the wit and spirit of Ostrovsky’s characters in a contemporary digital format.
According to Daria Zhukova, who works on exhibition and project development at the Bakhrushinsky Theater Museum, the organization houses more than 2.6 thousand items related to Ostrovsky. The process began with selecting costume designs, followed by identifying iconic characters such as Kabanikha and Katerina from The Storm, Glafira from Wolves and Sheep, among others. After several rounds of curation, the drawings were chosen for their vivid emotional expression, and ultimately 100 stickers were shortlisted with the most versatile designs remaining in the final set.
Earlier reports indicated that Ostrovsky’s words originated from a cosmonaut training center, an inclusion that highlights the broad cultural reach of his influence across different contexts and eras.
