To sustain its position as a yearly reference point for dialogue, reflection, and analysis of the living Spanish dramaturgy scene, Muestra Open runs from February 27 to April 28. For the intake of artistic suggestions, it is likely to be included in the programming of the XXXI edition.

Projects from any company or professional distributor across the entire Spanish region are eligible. Works can be created by a single author or by a collective, but only living Spanish writing is eligible during the call period. Submissions must be released in the 2021-22, 2022-23, or 23-24 season or have a pending premiere in 23-24, and they must not have been offered previously in Alicante. Each company may submit a maximum of two projects.

Professional accreditation will be acknowledged when the producer organization has a track record of more than three years, when the project represents a corporate co-production, residency, or public grant, or when the project has toured and/or premiered at different venues and professional festivals, or has a premiere commitment in professional programming.

Submissions receive review by an evaluation commission. The exhibition management will shape the programming in line with the criteria described in the programming direction, guided by the commission’s pre-selection. Bids not selected by the Commission will be notified via email before May 20.

This text reflects a commitment to supporting contemporary Spanish dramaturgy, emphasizing regional inclusion, eligibility rules, and the process for evaluating and announcing selections. Additional context on how the festival operates and how projects are chosen can be found in official communications from the organizers.
