In a coordinated operation, authorities in Alicante dismantled a black drug outlet operating in the Carolinas neighborhood. Six individuals were detained as part of the intervention, which also yielded more than 12 kilograms of marijuana in various forms. Police confirmed the seizure included 5,818 grams of marijuana buds, 6,930 grams of marijuana in tablet form, and 153 grams of marijuana in raw, unprocessed chunks. Cash believed to be proceeds of the trafficking, totaling 3,665 euros, along with a high-end vehicle, were recovered. Three of those arrested were remanded in custody.
Investigators traced the operation to a residence in the Carolinas district of Altas, where authorities maintained heightened surveillance. Observers noted unusual activity at the property, with people entering and exiting soon after pressing the doorbell, consistent with a retail drug outlet. The pattern of behavior created reasonable grounds to believe that drug purchases were being made at that location.
The case progressed as officers postponed steps while counter-surveillance measures by the suspects were in place. This cautious approach forced investigators to adapt their tactics to avoid tipping off the suspects during the early stages of the investigation.
Beyond the house itself, the operation revealed that the trader also conducted sales from a luxury vehicle parked near the property, facilitating the distribution channel without relying solely on the home base.
As the inquiry deepened, additional individuals connected to the network were identified. Among them was a woman who moved about on a scooter and played a daily role in transporting medicine to the distribution point. She arrived at the examined property on the scooter, carrying a backpack that she did not leave behind.
Authorities observed that the daily traffic into the residence increased markedly when the scooter-wielding woman appeared, suggesting she and her spouse were responsible for storing and transporting the drugs to the Carolinas Altas distribution point on a regular basis. Investigators also named another person as having supplied cannabis to the operation, facilitating its flow to the leader who oversaw the black market activity.
Following the identification of all members involved in the criminal network, six individuals were arrested at the start of March, and four residences were searched. During one recorded moment at a house in the Alicante area, authorities allege that the leader actively resisted arrest and released a dog in an apparent bid to intimidate the officers. The dog attacked and bit two officers before the suspect was taken into custody.
Law enforcement noted that the suspect’s mother aided in concealing the money earned from drug sales and appeared to be fully aware of her son’s illicit activities.
The detainees comprise three men and three women, aged between 33 and 56, with Spanish and Dominican nationality. Police records indicate prior offenses among several of the individuals, and three of the four detainees who appeared in court were kept in custody as a precautionary measure.
