The latest single by the Mainz-like brand new performer, released under the Main Menulike label, has generated strong reactions. The track titled at 12, featuring Belinda, stands out as a crowd favorite among Spanish Eurovision supporters. Yet the artist indicates it is not planning a public appearance soon, especially not at the Benidorm Festival next year.
The performer explained to Efe that while he follows the excitement of the contest, there are still thousands of priorities to manage. Finishing his album remains a top objective, and he believes that preparing a project of this magnitude requires substantial time. He suggested that a festival appearance would come with an attractive offer and not be imminent, leaving the door only slightly ajar.
He also hinted at a willingness to collaborate by writing a song for another artist to defend him in the national selection for Eurovision. A composition in Italian or Spanish for someone else would be appealing, he noted.
Looking ahead, the artist expressed a desire to return to Italy to perform at San Remo. Italy has strong ties with him, and after several attempts he finally joined the festival this year and performed an original piece. He stands out as the first foreign artist to attend since 2015, bringing a fresh energy to the stage.
Beyond his penultimate placement, Mena, born Estepona in 1997, shared pride in having sung on that storied platform. He recalled that expectations of winning San Remo or representing Italy at Eurovision were not part of his plan. His goal was simply to be present and enjoy the moment, engaging not only with music but with the people and their language, jokes, and warmth. This experience left him with a deep sense of happiness and accomplishment.
His affinity for Italian music runs strong, a connection he traces to his father who exposed him to Italian songs during his childhood. He notes that Italy has become his second home. At this stage of his career, he reflects on how he did not speak Italian when he first recorded songs in that language, yet those efforts marked the start of a series of successes.
Throughout his repertoire, he has gathered songs such as D estate non vale it, back anchor, Un bacio all improvisation, and One step away from the moon. He describes these moments as chaotic yet exhilarating times. Each release brings its own pressure, a test of whether the music will resonate, but the results have consistently brought him joy and encouragement.
The most recent Italian release featured a collaboration labeled Mezzanotte, released in a Spanish version titled Las 12. Belinda joined in on the project, and both artists used the moment to honor strong and resilient women who face every challenge with courage. The track is already being discussed as a potential summer favorite for 2022.
