McGregor, the Scottish actor referred to in reports as Yuen McGregor, has asked for court protection amid years of alleged harassment by a follower named Angelica Gorents. Since 2022, he says, messages directed at him and his family have been described as worryingly intense. The follower reportedly believed there was a romantic relationship with the actor, while actress Mary Elizabeth Winstad claimed she was separated from him. Gorents also expressed a wish to have children with the actor and asked for his sperm.
McGregor says the alleged incident occurred in the garden of his former wife in Yves Mavorkis on Gorents’s Christmas. Gorents supposedly traveled from Minnesota to California for this event. After the incident, the actor states, the follower threatened him and his family and compared himself to a psychopath from the Dexter series. He also claimed to have purchased weapons, including a sniper rifle, and to have threatened Winstad.
The court has issued a temporary order prohibiting Gorents from approaching McGregor, and the actor intends to pursue a full civil order to protect himself, his wife, and their children.
The case has seen filings reach almost 60 thousand rubles, reflecting the ongoing legal process surrounding the allegations and the protective measures sought.
