Maestral Evening Series Highlights a Bold New Detective Novel

Maestral Literature Evenings celebrate 64 installments this Friday with a conversation featuring a renowned young adult novelist and playwright, the creator of the popular children’s epic Football SImos. The event will showcase Rebellion of the Good Ones, which earned a prestigious literary award in 2023. The novelist’s first detective novel, Mother, has been translated into multiple languages and inspired a television series. Ana Tramel also gained adaptation through television and streaming platforms.

The upcoming work unfolds a gripping plot that challenges the dominance of those who hold power on the global stage. After a dinner at Maestral restaurant, a moderated discussion will take place with a seasoned news editor from Información TV in Alicante who will field questions from the audience.

History

Rebellion of the Good Guys follows Fátima Montero, a high-ranking figure at one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical empires, who hires a morally ambiguous lawyer to manage a multimillion-dollar divorce. A bruised ego is intensified when discoveries reveal a romantic entanglement involving an underage party, setting off a complex chain of events. The lawyer’s initial goal is confrontation, yet something darker lies beneath the case.

Cheated on by his former partner and facing mounting threats, the lawyer uncovers alarming illegalities within the pharmaceutical industry, including tests on human subjects, coercion, extortion, and fraud. With bankruptcy looming, the lawyer doubles down on justice, preparing to confront a multinational corporation with far-reaching influence, even if it means staring evil in the face.

Themed menu and wine

The evening’s menu and accompanying wines are inspired by the novel’s atmosphere. Guests will begin with parmesan and poppyseed pops, followed by crispy rice with nori, shrimp skewers with panko and yuzu. The first course offers a fusion of Japanese, Mexican, and Indian flavors, while the second course presents a Greek-moussaka style dish featuring lamb, eggplant, and vegetables. For dessert, a lemon cream tart will be paired with crispy churros. A special red wine from Bodega Casa Sicilia 1707, named Red Moon, complements the experience.

The night starts at 8:30 PM and tickets are priced at 40 euros per person, including a bottle of Cesilia wine from the Novelda region as a gift.
