The Lola Flores Cultural Center is the better known name for the museum dedicated to the legendary artist Lola Flores. The Lola Flores Museum will open its doors on a Friday, March 31, aligning with Dolores Friday’s exhibition in Jerez de la Frontera in Cadiz. More than two hundred original pieces owned and cherished by Lola Flores are slated to be unveiled to the public for the first time.

According to a memo from the Jerez City Council, the opening ceremony will be held privately with members of the Flores family present, including the artist’s daughters. Public access to the venue will begin at 5:15 pm for visitors who have already reserved tickets through the ticketentradas portal.

The collection features over two hundred original items, with about forty pieces already on display. Special emphasis is placed on Lola Flores jewelry, pieces she reportedly preserved and treasured so they could be shared with fans when the time was right. The remarks from the mayor of Jerez, Mamen Sanchez, highlighted the intent to bring these treasures out of storage and into the open for the community.

The museography for the exhibit was crafted by Reina de Corazones, with curatorial work by Laura Cerrato and Juan Pablo Frade. The vision extends beyond the initial gallery space to include a second exhibit area known as Lola Flores Chartwill, slated to open in the fall. A third phase envisions the future Tabanco de Lola Flores within the town hall beside the Tablao space. A designed Andalusian courtyard will accommodate performances, book presentations, and other events, providing an outdoor area for visitors to enjoy.

Throughout the planning process, the City Council has invited residents to donate objects related to Lola Flores. An inventory is being compiled to determine what will be available for future temporary exhibitions. Among the interesting requests is a painting of Australian origin. The mayor noted Lola Flores was generous and frequently shared her pieces with people far and wide.

Admission to the Lola Flores Museum is ten euros, with discounted rates for seniors, teenagers, and children under six set at five euros. Children under five can enter free. The museum will be open on three special days each year that commemorate Lola Flores and local traditions. These days include Lola Flores birth in late January, the anniversary of her passing, and the day dedicated to La Merced, the patron saint of Jerez.

Visiting hours are structured to accommodate different rhythms of the week. The museum opens from Tuesday through Friday in the late morning and early afternoon, with specific hours guiding weekday arrivals. Saturdays offer a longer window for exploration, while Sundays provide a shorter schedule focusing on the late morning and early afternoon. The plan is designed to welcome both locals and visitors who are eager to explore Lola Flores personal artifacts and the cultural setting that shaped her storied career.
