Filming for the comedy Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Everything began in Rostov, marking a fresh adaptation of Leonid Gaidai’s beloved work Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession. The production is being reported by kp.ru as a continuation of a classic Russian comedic tradition.
Last year the crew shot scenes in front of stores that were part of the original Irony of Fate filming. Project directors Mikhail Semi and Roman Kim, who previously collaborated on The Self-Irony of Fate, explained that this new production now makes use of Rostov’s stunning landscape, including the Rostov Kremlin, to recreate the distinctive settings of the earlier film in a modern context.
Leading the cast is Timur Batrutdinov, taking on the dual roles of Ivan Vasilievich Bunshi and Tsar Ivan the Terrible. Demis Karibidis joins as Shurik, while Maxim Lagashkin plays the character Georges Miloslavsky, a thief whose antics contribute to the film’s signature chaos and humor.
The ensemble also features a star-studded lineup including Pavel Volya, Sergey Svetlakov, Mikhail Galustyan, Gosha Kutsenko, Pavel Derevyanko, Marina Kravets, Garik Martirosyan, Marina Fedunkiv, Olga Kartunkova, Olga Buzova, Basta, and groups such as Ivanushki International. Other notable names attached to the project include Azamat Musagaliev and Phillip Kirkorov, reflecting a broad spectrum of talent across Russian entertainment.
In another development, one day in Russia commenced filming for a historical crime narrative titled Dolly, starring Anastasia Ukolova. The project represents a parallel thread of production activity that week, underscoring a busy period for the Russian film industry as crews work across multiple genres and eras.
Meanwhile, an eventful evening among concert-goers continued to surface in social chatter, as attendees who had visited Beyoncé’s recent show reflected on their experience and offered mixed reactions to the dress code that night, highlighting how pop culture moments continue to intersect with film and performance in contemporary Russia.
