Three criminal cases have been opened in relation to performer Eduard Charlotte over videos posted on the social network Instagram, whose owner is widely recognized as an extremist and is banned in Russia. This development was reported by Life, which connected the actions to the platform in question.

The reporting notes that two cases were opened under the article concerning the rehabilitation of Nazism via the Internet. The charges reference videos in which Charlotte tears and tramples a St. George ribbon and in which he sings about exchange rates while wearing only underwear to the melody of the World War II song “Victory Day.”

A third case concerns insulting the feelings of believers after a video surfaced showing the singer insulting Patriarch Kirill and assaulting his portrait, with an improvised cross and a military ID attached to a tree.

During the night of November 22, Charlotte departed from Yerevan, where he had temporarily settled, heading to St. Petersburg to Pulkovo Airport. He was detained immediately upon landing.

Charlotte has not yet been formally charged in connection with these cases and is currently serving a 13-day administrative detention for petty hooliganism in a special detention facility in St. Petersburg. The term will be transferred to Samara afterward.

Earlier, statements were made in the Kremlin when inquiries were directed toward the Charlotte case, as summarized by official responses [Source: Life report].
