The reboot director of the series Daddy’s Daughters, Alexander Zhigalkin, explained why Ekaterina Starshova, known to fans as Button, did not return to the project in full. Starshova appeared for only a brief visit, completed a few scenes, and left again.

Zhigalkin noted that she works in the entertainment industry, appears on various shows, and has not resided in Russia for a long period. These circumstances created challenges in aligning her schedule with the production, making a full return difficult to arrange.

Starshova has a background in biology from her schooling, but she built a career as a professional figure skater, performing in an ice show and skating at a high level.

During the preparation phase, Zhigalkin reached out to everyone involved, expressing warmth and anticipation, saying that he loved them and was waiting for their involvement. Katya, however, could not commit to the project due to her personal circumstances at the time.

In 2022 Starshova moved abroad; prior to this, she repeatedly spoke about the possibility of relocating to England. Open data indicate that she is currently collaborating with Willy Bietak Productions, a company based in Los Angeles.

The second season of Daddy’s Daughters. New premiered on April 15, 2024. It saw the return of key players such as Andrei Leonov, Nonna Grishaeva, Miroslava Karpovich, Daria Melnikova, and Liza Arzamasova. The new episodes were also joined by blogger Vlad A4 and figure skater Ilya Averbukh.

Just the day before, Alexander Samoilenko Sr. was approached about participation; after some persuasion, he confirmed his involvement in the sequel to the series.

There were previous remarks from Polezhaikin about the possibility of creating a film featuring a character with a disability, discussed in connection with the Daddy’s Daughters project family of ideas.
