The City Council of Alicante and the Provincial Council renewed this Thursday their cultural cooperation agreement for the year, continuing a yearly pact both institutions have maintained for a decade to share expenses across various activities held in Alicante.
Specifically, this year’s agreement totals 210,000 euros, a figure slightly lower than in recent years (222,000 euros) after aligning with the scheduled activities, as explained by the Culture Councillor, Juan de Dios Navarro, and the Culture Councillor, Nayma Beldjilali. Each institution contributes equally to the agreement, with 110,000 euros from each side.
The agreed amount will fund a dozen activities that have already taken place this year or are planned for the near future. These include the Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico, set for September, the Summer Concerts in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and programs such as Cultura en Barrios, Menuts Barris, and Actividades en Parques, which typically receive substantial funding through this framework. The agreement also supports exhibitions and activities at Espacio Séneca, the Brass Festival, Fogueres Culturals, the celebration of 9 d’Octubre, and the Alicantino de Adopción, among others.
Consolidation
“This agreement, with almost a decade of collaboration behind it, strengthens activities that are already well established and preserves the spirit of cooperation with the Alicante City Council. It recognizes the capital city as a cultural hub and a focal point for cultural exchange,” Navarro stated. Beldjilali highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration between institutions and thanked the Diputación for its support in promoting events and helping Alicante stand out as a dynamic cultural dissemination engine.
