Months may remain before Benidorm Fest 2024 debuts its new edition, yet the preparations are already in motion. RTVE, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, and Benidorm City Council gathered to align every detail of the project. The event, the contest that will select Spain’s Eurovision entrant, is already on track for a July 26 date, with upcoming innovations for the following year to be unveiled.

Representing Turisme, Herick Campos attended the meeting along with public television delegates and Jesús Carrobles, the Events Counselor. The purpose was clear: keep the ambitious process for Benidorm Fest rolling and ensure the kickoff proceeds as planned. The participants outlined a protocol and the initial steps for July 26, when news about the festival would be announced.

A festival without instruments? Benidorm Fest 2024 changes the rules

All three institutions agreed to sign a protocol that seeks ongoing synergy between Benidorm Fest and Eurovision. The aim is to ensure a strong national and international profile for the winner and to select the Spanish candidate for Europe’s competition. The parties involved will cooperate across promotional activities tied to the festival and its surrounding events.

The meeting took place at Benidorm Town Hall.

Tourism General Manager emphasized the event’s importance, noting that a successful edition helps sustain the festival over time and highlights the Valencian Community on the international stage. It was also noted that RTVE receives 1.5 million euros from the regional government this year, with future commitments to be finalized by the new leadership. Campos underscored that the agreement sets a framework for continuing collaboration and the commitments ahead.

Benidorm Fest 2024 preparations kick off with a great event this summer

Earlier discussions between RTVE and Turisme Comunitat Valenciana took place at Invat tur to review procedures and confirm support measures from the prior year, including previously approved aid and administrative processes.

Thus, the next edition of Benidorm Fest is scheduled for July 26 in Benidorm. A press conference was planned for the day’s early hours as RTVE advances, with competition details developed in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana and Benidorm City Council, the public entities responsible for the event. In the afternoon, additional Benidorm Fest activities were planned in the city.

Benidorm mayor Toni Pérez publicly thanked the Generalitat’s forthcoming president, Carlos Mazón, for the strong support expressed for the 2024 celebration. The mayor stated that the festival would proceed hand in hand with the city council and RTVE, expressing confidence in positive outcomes.

For the next edition, the approved rules include some innovations, such as hosting events like the Benidorm Summer Festival 2024 and other parallel activities that drew high participant engagement in the previous edition, presenting an attractive package for Eurofans.
