Ballerina Anastasia Volochkova described a troubling incident in a discussion with mk.ru, labeling it a true event that unfolded just before the final act of a performance.
According to her account, there was no actual ballet on stage during the concert. She explained that the stage decorations only arrived half an hour before showtime and that there was no proper covering ready. She recalled sitting on the floor, breaking into tears, and raising her voice in frustration. The lack of suitable conditions, she said, created significant strain on her legs, which is why the organizers improvised by draping advertising fabric over the stage as a makeshift cover.
She admitted, with a touch of humor born from hardship, that she had once learned to dance on poster fabric—the very material used for printing advertising posters, including those for campaigns. This fabric was brought in a mere 15 minutes before she was due to begin her performance. Even with the last-minute scramble, the show drew a full house, with around 2,500 tickets sold, far exceeding the expected audience of about a thousand people.
Volochkova described the impromptu cover as a pivotal moment in her performance, calling it the turning point of the evening. She firmly denied rumors that she planned to end her career and revealed that she is actively preparing a new show instead, signaling continued artistic activity and future engagements.
Earlier in September, the ballerina had rejected rumors about financial obligations to the state. She affirmed that her taxes and utility bills were paid regularly, underscoring her commitment to financial responsibilities and transparency.
