The group Aria is preparing a New Year’s concert in Moscow, scheduled for December 30, with a festive presentation that features Santa Clauses as the central theme. The event is being reported by the Russian press as an upcoming celebration for the capital’s music scene.
During last year’s New Year’s performance, Aria treated audiences to selections from classic Soviet cinema, including pieces associated with the actor Yuri Nikulin such as Song about Rabbits and Wait, Steam Engine. The show also included a rendition of Christmas Tree. Vitaly Dubinin, the band’s bassist and second vocalist, explained that this year the musicians will perform in matching holiday outfits. He emphasized that the group operates with unity, likening the five members to five fingers on a hand and noting that the idea is to have five identical Santa Clauses on stage. The visual concept aims to reinforce the sense of togetherness that defines the band.
Dubinin also mentioned that coordinating the Santa costumes with the Snow Maidens is more challenging, but manageable. He teased that a toaster-themed moment might appear as a playful solo feature for Mikhail Zhitnyakov, suggesting that he may handle this part with a flair that stands out while the other members hold their own strong performances, acknowledging that age introduces a different dynamic for such a show.
In related commentary, Berkut, a former Aria member, reflected on Igor Talkov, describing him as an outstanding individual and highlighting the lasting respect within the genre. The remarks contribute to a broader sense of nostalgia and continuity within the band’s evolving legacy.
