Russian actor Vladimir Mashkov, who holds the position of President of the Union of Theater Employees, described Alexander Shirvindt as an artist with a capital letter “A” and noted that audiences truly adored him. Mashkov’s remarks appeared on the theater community site STD.
Mashkov emphasized that Shirvindt stood out as a phenomenon because he could win the affection of any listener from the very first word. He highlighted that humor was a defining talent for Shirvindt, and no one could match him in that regard. The actor added that Shirvindt possessed an extraordinary ability to connect with people, creating a warm bond with conversations from the opening moment.
The statement went on to describe Shirvindt as both a person and an artist of immense greatness, brilliant and intriguing whether on stage or behind the scenes. Mashkov extended his condolences to Shirvindt’s family and relatives.
Alexander Shirvindt passed away on March 15, at the age of 89. He was widely recognized for his performances in films such as “Irony of Fate” and “Three Men in a Boat.” He led the Satire Theater as artistic director from 2000 to 2021, and in 2021 he took on the role of president of the theater.
Actress Vera Alentova recently said goodbye to Shirvindt, and his sister in spirit, daughter Yulia Menshova, stepped in to help. Menshova accompanied the 82-year-old artist and accompanied Shirvindt’s relatives, offering support by seating him beside them during a difficult farewell.
In a separate tribute, entertainer Philip Kirkorov was seen fighting back tears as he remembered Shirvindt and the lasting impact of his work.
