Dmitry Iosifov shared in a recent interview with aif.ru about the turbulent reception he faced after starring in The Adventures of Pinocchio. Following the film’s release, some of his classmates treated him with hostility. Iosifov suggested that jealousy among peers fueled the negative attitudes, noting that the animosity mainly came from boys, while many girls at school showed him affection. He acknowledged being pleased by the attention from the opposite sex, which contrasted with the chilly reception from male classmates.
The 1975 musical film The Adventures of Pinocchio, directed by Leonid Nechaev, featured Iosifov in the lead role. During production, the cast and crew encountered a tense moment that escalated into a fight. Iosifov recounted an incident that occurred while filming a scene in which the character Basilio descends from a mountain. The actor playing Basilio, Rolan Bykov, reportedly struggled to master the sequence, leading to a confrontation that involved the use of a seat torn from a bus to emphasize a point.
The bus driver, noticing the missing seat, confronted Bykov and accused him of damaging the vehicle. By the time the altercation unfolded, the seat had already been removed from the bus. Members of the film crew stepped in to separate the two, preventing further escalation and keeping the scene from spiraling out of control.
