Filming of the sixth season of the Queen’s drama series The Crown was interrupted due to the Queen’s death. Reported by Variety.
The British monarch passed away on the eve of the premiere of the fifth season of the Netflix series, which will take place in November. The series will feature a new cast. Imelda Staunton will play Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip’s Jonathan Pryce, Prince Charles’s Dominic West (now King Charles III – circa “socialbites.ca”) and Elizabeth Debicki – Princess Diana. Olivia Williams will star as Camilla Parker Bowles, while Jonny Lee Miller will star as Prime Minister John Major.
While details are yet to be revealed, new episodes are likely to focus on the 1990s and Princess Diana’s death in 1997. Elizabeth II did not speak publicly about the “Crown”.
The British Queen, who ascended the throne in 1952, was the world’s oldest monarch. She died at the age of 96, surrounded by her family at Balmoral, her palace in the Scottish Highlands.
