Members of the Moscow Public Observation Commission (POC) visited pre-trial detention center “Pechatniki” No. 6, where blogger Elena Blinovskaya is being held, the head of the commission, Georgy Volkov, told socialbites.ca. According to him, the blogger hopes that his preventive measures will change because he considers himself innocent. Volkov noted that Blinovskaya’s condition was stable, but her eyes filled with tears when she remembered her children.
“Of course he’s worried about this whole situation. He hopes that at least the restrictive measure will be changed so that it does not require a prison sentence. He believes he is not guilty of any crime. He believes that the investigative authorities will examine this matter and existing doubts will be eliminated. Her psychological state is quite stable, but when she remembers her children, tears appear in her eyes. “He says he is ready to do anything so that he can see his underage children,” he said.
Volkov believes that there is no need to keep Blinovskaya in a pre-trial detention center because she did not commit violent acts. According to him, the blogger believes that justice will prevail in this situation.
“Women and men with young children who have not committed any violent crime should not be held in a pre-trial detention centre. Moreover, he is accused of business matters, including tax matters, so in my opinion he has nothing to do there. She talked a lot about their patriotism, about their travels with her husband around the country: to Altai, visiting the Republic of Crimea, etc., that they loved their homeland, that they were patriots. He believes that our justice system will solve this problem and, in his opinion, justice will still prevail. But my opinion, of course, is that there is no need to keep mothers, especially mothers with many children, in a pre-trial detention center. It’s painful to watch. “We will continue to visit him and follow his psychological state and living conditions,” he said.
