The Moscow Museum of the International Numismatic Club will open the “Great East” exhibition, featuring ancient coins from the rarest collections.
“Coins are more than money. They reflect public policy, serve as historical resources, and are works of art. Vagit Alekperov, founder of the Museum of the International Numismatic Club, told socialbites.ca: The eastern part of my collection has been created for many years and will be presented at the exhibition for the first time.
Within the scope of the exhibition, visitors will be shown the gold coins of the Achaemenid Empire, rare state coins of Alexander the Great and his commanders, Parthian and Bactrian coins, as well as the largest collection of gold coins of Genghis Khan and Tamerlane. Additionally, the exhibition will include various artifacts from the Ancient East from the collections of the Eastern Museum, State Hermitage and Pushkin Museum. The event will run from October 25 to April 10, 2024.
