Denis Manturov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, indicated that the appetite for Russian industrial robots and other high-tech equipment is set to grow. He explained that this surge in demand aligns with the presidential directive on tax incentives designed to spur purchases of advanced domestic technologies. Manturov conveyed these points through the Russian news agency RIA Novosti. The president had announced the instruction during his February 21 address to the Federal Assembly.
According to Manturov, the implementation of the president’s plan is expected to prompt domestic manufacturers to accelerate investments in metalworking machinery and other industrial automation. This broader uptake could bolster capacity-upgrade initiatives and spur engineering firms to place more orders for comprehensive manufacturing solutions, ultimately strengthening the domestic industrial base.
Earlier reporting noted that the president ordered an expansion of tax incentives for acquiring Russian high-tech equipment. Beginning in 2023, Russian companies were allowed to reduce their income tax obligations when they purchase advanced domestic information technology solutions and products that utilize artificial intelligence. These qualifying expenditures would be accounted for with a 1.5x coefficient of the actual costs. The president’s directive extended these benefits to buyers of domestic high-tech equipment, with the specifics of the eligible equipment list and the grant procedures to be developed by the government’s Council of Ministers.
