Russia-UAE trade hits record $9 billion as Manturov highlights rapid growth

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov announced a notable expansion in Russia’s trade with the United Arab Emirates, with the overall turnover reaching a new high of $9 billion last year, a rise of 68 percent from the previous period. The disclosure was reported by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

Manturov described the bilateral partnership as gaining momentum. He noted that in 2022 the trade volume between Russia and the UAE grew by 68 percent, totaling $9 billion. He emphasized that this level of commerce marks a record in the long-standing relationship between the two nations, underscoring the strength of their economic ties (RIA Novosti).

Further data from Manturov showed that Russia’s exports to the UAE climbed 71 percent year over year, reaching $8.5 billion by the end of the previous year. In contrast, imports from the UAE to Russia rose by 6 percent, totaling $0.5 billion. Manturov highlighted that the UAE remains the leading Arab partner for Russia in trade terms (RIA Novosti).

During a February 11 meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Manturov also outlined broader regional activity. He indicated that Russia had increased its exports of processed wood to North Africa, the Middle East, and regions in Asia, including timber, plywood, paper, cardboard, and cellulose, as part of a broader push to expand foreign sales and diversify export markets (RIA Novosti).
