The Moldovan government considered adjustments to Gazprom’s gas supply terms for the country. Viktor Parlikov, head of Moldova’s Ministry of Energy, noted that the price Moldova pays for gas from the Russian Federation is nearly on par with European purchase costs. This observation was reported by the delivery agency TASS.
Parlikov added that Moldova might still buy gas from Gazprom for the right bank of the Dniester, but it would require more favorable pricing from the Russian gas holding. He emphasized that the proposed terms would need to align closely with Energocom’s current offers. The remark draws on the view of a state company that purchases gas in Europe, as reported by Gazeta.Ru through a quoted ministry official.
According to Parlikov, Gazprom’s gas reaches Moldova at a price just over $1,000 per 1,000 cubic meters.
The minister also explained that Moldovan authorities favor fuel purchases through the national company Moldovagaz, particularly Energocom, which has already built substantial reserves.
In the winter, Moldova’s right-bank region reduced its dependence on Russian gas after a sharp supply cut, turning to gas imports from the European Union. Simultaneously, Gazprom-supplied gas was redirected to the Transnistria region to signal a degree of political autonomy from Russian energy supplies.
