During the presentation of Colpensiones accounts, Juan Miguel Villa, the organization’s head, reported a profit of 97,000 million pesos in the balance of revenue and administrative expenses for the previous year, along with the effective cost of the management commission paid to affiliates, which stood at 0.77 percent.
In 2021, the Media Premium Regime saw 1.1 million new affiliates join, bringing the total in the public regime to 6.7 million. This milestone represents about one third of all those connected to the Colombian pension system, underscoring Colpensiones’ expanding reach.
Since its establishment, Villa noted, the organization welcomed 700,000 new retirees, including 92,000 who retired in 2021, marking the highest annual figure in four years.
Regarding Periodic Economic Benefits Beps, 165,000 participants had entered by the end of 2021, equating to 1.6 million connected people, of whom 68 percent were women. A total of 6,492 life insurances were issued.
At the time of the delivery, the balance of the Social Protection Floor, which began operating in August 2021, showed 11,285 new savers and contributions surpassing 2,359 million pesos as of December 31, 2021, maintaining a stable trajectory.
Villa emphasized that most 2021 results illustrate a digital transformation initiative launched four years earlier. The initiative leveraged the Electronic Office and a suite of online procedures designed to meet citizen demands. He highlighted that in the previous year more than 10 million transactions were completed through digital channels such as Electronic Membership, Electronic Transfer, Old Age Pension Special Time Applications, Funeral Assistance, Labor History, and the most recent Electronic Regime for Colombians abroad. All these services are accessible from the comfort of home, enabling convenient, secure interactions with Colpensiones.
The head of Colpensiones also reported progress in judicial defense, noting that the legal entity secured favorable outcomes in various courts. This success avoided payments totaling 279,000 million pesos in administrative procedures, legal actions, and preventative measures against unlawful damage.
“What was achieved in 2021 reflects the dedication of more than 3,000 collaborators across the nation. Their efforts have helped maintain the confidence of users and strengthened Colpensiones’ standing as the pension administrator most recalled by Colombians. The goal for 2022 is to sustain that reputation and trust with roughly 10 million Colombians who have entrusted their future to Colpensiones,” Villa concluded.
