Ukrainians will face a sharp increase in electricity tariffs in June. This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy Aleksey Kucherenko in a comment to the publication Strana.ua.
According to him, the authorities are considering the possibility of setting a new cost of electricity in the range of 3.5-4 hryvnia ($0.09-0.11) per 1 kWh instead of the current tariff of 2.64 hryvnia ($0.07). Thus, the price is expected to increase one and a half times.
Kucherenko claims that the tariff increase could occur as early as June 1. Previously, Ukrainian Distribution Networks announced the need to increase light prices, noting that Ukraine needs more than $ 1 billion to prepare for the autumn-winter period. The National Bank of Ukraine also predicts a sharp increase in electricity tariffs.
