In 2024, Russians will increase their flower spending for International Women’s Day by 17% compared to the previous year. RIA Novosti writes that this is evidenced by data from the company Evotor.
While the most significant expenses fell on residents of Moscow and the Far Eastern regions, the most economical in this regard were residents of the Pskov region and Karelia. Thus, the average bill for the purchase of flowers in Russia in February was 1,745. The ruble is 17% higher than a year ago.
The study also showed that the most expensive bouquets were purchased in Moscow, with the average cost of flowers reaching 2,422 rubles, an increase of 14% year on year. In other regions, such as Primorye and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, prices are also above average. The lowest average bill for flowers was recorded in the Pskov region, at only 1,054 rubles; this is 2.3 times lower than in Moscow.
The average bill for purchasing flowers in other regions also increased: in the Rostov region – 1,681 rubles (increase by 25%), in the Stavropol Territory – 1,596 rubles (plus 13%), in the Nizhny Novgorod and Kaliningrad regions – 1,569 and 1,504 rubles, respectively. At the same time, residents of the Arkhangelsk region, Perm region and Karelia spend less than average money on flowers.
The average price of a box of chocolates also increased by 11% in February 2024, reaching 388 rubles. The average flower bill on the eve of March 8 has increased each year, the company said. Russians plan to spend more than 13.5 thousand rubles on gifts in February and March, of which about 6 thousand rubles will go to gifts for International Women’s Day. According to the research, the most popular gifts are flowers and non-market daily products.
