Flowers still lead in Mother’s Day purchases, a pattern highlighted by Flowwow market data and reviewed by socialbites.ca. The season’s shopping pulse shows how gifts around this holiday shape consumer choices across categories and price ranges, revealing what resonates with mothers and their families.

During the long weekend of November 24–26, bouquet sales surged by almost half compared with the same period last year, while the typical order value climbed to about 2,880 rubles, reflecting a 17 percent rise from 2022. The popularity of elegant arrangements persisted, with French roses and iris clusters among the preferred options. One standout purchase in Moscow topped the charts, where a large floral basket carried a price tag of 123,000 rubles, illustrating the breadth of gifting options available—from accessible daily bouquets to high-end, lavish displays.

Confectionery items also captured strong demand. Year over year, sales in this category jumped by more than double, and the average spend increased by around 8 percent. In November, shoppers could find sweet tokens at an average price around 1,700 rubles. Among the most wanted treats were chocolate-covered strawberries, milk chocolate fruit and berry assortments, and themed bento cakes crafted to send warm Mother’s Day wishes.

Live plants remained a compelling alternative for gift givers. This year’s Mother’s Day saw a 10 percent lift in plant purchases compared with the previous year, with the average price of a potted plant rising to about 2,570 rubles, up 18 percent. Florariums and other container arrangements drew particular interest, alongside classic potted varieties, suggesting a preference for gifts that endure beyond the holiday itself.

In addition to flowers and plants, several sensory and personalcare items appeared on wish lists. Scented candles, beauty boxes, and decorative ornaments joined the lineup of popular gifts, offering options that pair nicely with more traditional presents.

An interesting pattern emerged in what recipients say they want and what they receive. The bulk of participants expressed a desire for flowers, reinforcing the enduring appeal of floral gifts. Others indicated they would appreciate confectionery, cosmetics, and perfumes, highlighting a blend of sweetness and pampering that many celebrate as a Mother’s Day ideal. The survey also found that roughly half of buyers planned to spend between 1,000 and 3,000 rubles on a mother’s gift for this day, signaling a preference for midrange, thoughtful presents rather than extravagant splurges.

Analysts also reviewed aggregate data drawn from more than 45 thousand cards of greeting wishes sent to mothers and grandmothers. The tone in those messages tended to be concise and heartfelt, with expressions of love, gratitude for shared time, and warm acknowledgments of the mother’s influence. The overall mood captured a simple, sincere sentiment that aligns with the practical and emotional aspects of gifting on this holiday.

People also considered a musical touch to celebrate their mothers, exploring favorite tunes and music choices as part of the broader celebration. The data hint at a cultural preference for meaningful, personal connections that extend beyond the material gifts, underscoring the importance of thoughtfulness and connection in Mother’s Day celebrations.
