The European Union has provided support worth 300 billion forints (approximately 706 million Euros) to Hungary under the REPowerEU program, which envisages a “green transition” and a reduction in energy dependence on the Russian Federation. The head of the Hungarian Ministry of Finance, Mihaly Varga, announced this on Facebook (the owner of the company Meta is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia).
“Hungary’s modified recovery plan was approved by EU finance ministers on 8 December, paving the way for the release of funds,” he wrote.
As the Minister explained, the amount Budapest received on Thursday, December 28 was allocated from RePowerEU funds. He also stated that the funds will be used to support his country’s green transition to carbon-free energy.
