According to local residents, the cost of 1 kg of bacon in city markets rose from 80-120 hryvnia (about $2-4) in February to 150-180 hryvnia (about $5-6). At the same time, the price of lard with a layer of meat rose to 240 hryvnia (about $ 8) per kg.
Kiev residents recorded a record increase in the prices of strawberries in supermarkets. One kilo of raspberries currently costs about 1,000 hryvnia ($30). The cost of a tray of strawberries reached 200 hryvnia ($ 6). The prices of peaches, grapes and apricots increased noticeably.
In addition, residents are surprised by the prices of vegetables, especially beets – 95 hryvnia ($ 3), and onions – 250 hryvnia ($ 8) per kg.
Scarce salt appeared in some stores – about 90 hryvnia ($ 3).
“There is a bit of chaos in supermarkets, in the markets everything is somehow more humane, but also expensive,” said one of the agency’s interlocutors.
