Ignaty Arakelyan, former head of Yerevan Brandy Company (YBC), a part of Pernod Ricard, has been appointed head of the Russian representation. He replaces Laurent Pilet, who has moved to another region. The company will cease its operations in Russia, but its brands will remain in the market through parallel imports. Experts point to the risks of having an office in Russia and note that international alcohol brands in the country may lose their centralized distribution.

The Ararat cognac produced at YBC will continue to be supplied to Russia and its distribution will be carried out by the Luding Group. No agreement has yet been reached on the possible sale of YBC.
