They announced a reduction in coal loading in the west and south directions in Kuzbass at 09:00.

The loading of Kuzbass coal by rail fell to 60-70% of the volumes agreed with Russian Railways. This was expressed by the Kuzbass Governor Sergey Tsivilev in the framework of the commission meeting of the State Council of the Russian Federation on the direction “Energy” in Novokuznetsk, transmits TASS.

“The shippers of Kuzbass have recorded a significant decline in coal exports to the west and south since April. Russian Railways does not accept more than 60-70% of the agreed volumes for loading,” he said.

According to him, last year Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the export of 58 million tons of coal, but only 48 million tons were exported. In 2023, this figure has increased to 63 million tons, but the guaranteed export agreement is 50 million tons.

He added that this situation negatively affected both tax revenues and the economic situation in the region. Also, everything gets worse with the fall in coal prices.

On June 1, Kommersant newspaper cited the “Discounts on Russian Coal” presentation by analysts from the consulting agency Neft Research. WroteSince the beginning of this year, discounted trading of Russian coking coal in foreign markets has been terminated. One of the main reasons why foreign benchmarks were not discounted was that blast furnaces were tied to certain coal grades.
