Russian Ambassador Kelin: Trade with the UK almost “reset” in June 2022 03:09

Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin said that bilateral economic relations between Russia and the UK have almost “reset” by the end of 2022. He said this in an interview he gave to the newspaper. “News”.

According to the diplomat, bilateral trade with the United Kingdom was virtually futile, as the anti-Russian sanctions affected almost all areas of existing trade relations.

As Kelin points out, as of June 2022, imports from Russia to the UK decreased by 97%, while exports to the Russian Federation decreased by 90%. The Ambassador explained that the only exception is the purchase of British medicinal and pharmacological products that are not subject to restrictive measures.

At the end of February, British authorities introduced Sanctions on Russian banks, government officials and large companies in Russia. The London sanctions list includes the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev, 34 people linked to Rostec and Almaz-Antey, and the heads of Aeroflot. While there are 92 natural and legal persons in the list, the number of sanctions imposed by the UK on Russia has exceeded 1.5 thousand.
