Today the State Duma passed in first reading a bill on credit holidays for those called up as part of partial mobilization, as well as for contract soldiers.
Suspension of loan obligations
A citizen can apply and suspend payments on consumer and mortgage loans for a period not exceeding the length of service, or reduce the amount of the payments.
A citizen can change the terms of the loan agreement at any time during the term, but no later than December 31, 2023.
The law also provides for the full or partial termination of loan obligations in the event of the death or injury of a soldier. The same applies to next of kin. At the same time, the government, together with the Bank of Russia, will set the bar for the size of the loan, which can be fully written off.
The head of the financial market commission, Anatoly Aksakov, also said the bill would be retroactive and would come into effect on February 24, 2022, i.e. the start time of the special operation. For example, the provision on credit holidays will apply to all persons involved in it.
In the second and third reading, the delegates plan to consider this bill tomorrow, September 28.
About the full amortization of loans and fines
As for the proposal of the Honest Russians to write off loans and fines from citizens involved in NWO, that did not succeed.
The compensation for staying on the front lines of a special military operation is quite high, the mobilized will receive at the level of contract soldiers, said Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev. And since the material support of many people involved in the SVO will not deteriorate, but improve, there is no need to write off.
Of course, such a proposal can be accepted, but you need to understand that all this will be on the shoulders of credit organizations, and they in turn will take risks in the interest rate, and as a result everyone who will suffer a loan – the interest rates for borrowers will rise significantly.
