To find out which countries are the best (and worst) for foreign drivers, Zutobi experts analyzed 41 countries around the world on a number of parameters, including road safety and quality, the cost of renting, parking and refueling a car, etc. on the scores they chose the most comfortable and friendly countries for car tourists.
Spain (6.6 points)
Spain is one of the most visited European countries, offering tourists from beautiful beaches to inland mountains to historic and vibrant cities such as Barcelona and Madrid. If you decide to take a trip to Spain, you will find few traffic jams (17.44%; this figure indicates how much longer a 30-minute journey takes compared to the basic conditions of the city without traffic), relatively cheap car rental ($44 per day) and safe roads (3.9 road deaths per 100,000 inhabitants).
Slovenia (6.4 points)
This is an ideal place for a road trip – small size and diverse landscape, beautiful beaches on the Adriatic coast and beautiful national parks. Travelers in Slovenia can park off-street cheaply – $1 per hour, by comparison – in Spain it costs $2.5.
Portugal (6.3 points)
Portugal has become one of the most visited destinations in the world due to its mild climate and hundreds of miles of beaches, as well as many unique attractions, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
