The United States is seeing an increase in Kia and Hyundai car thefts due to a publicly disclosed vulnerability on social media. This has been reported Wall Street Journal.

It has been revealed that this issue affects some Kia models produced from 2011 to 2021 and a number of Hyundai models from 2016 to 2021.
From Atlanta to Seattle, police reported an increase in theft of cars equipped with conventional keys that can be stolen quickly. It turned out that the theft was committed due to the absence of a chip that does not allow cars to start when there is no key.
In August, 601 Kia and Hyundai cars were stolen in Chicago. A year ago, only 58 cars were stolen during the same period.
Car companies are already taking steps to prevent car theft.
