Yes, this is a mid-sized crossover with three rows of seats, an internal combustion engine and four-wheel drive, but with an electrified powertrain.
The aforementioned combustion engine has only three cylinders, 1.5 liters of volume and a turbine, and its job is not to transfer torque to the wheels via a gearbox (which the car simply does not have). It’s just a generator.
That is, the motor charges the battery, which provides energy to the electric motors that turn the wheels (as in BELAZ mining dump trucks).
On the road, the new Nissan X-Trail behaves like an electric car, it accelerates immediately thanks to the fact that all 330 Nm of torque is already available from the lowest revs. As a result, a car with a 1.5-litre engine accelerates to 100 km/h in 7 seconds.
And all because the total power of the electric motors is 210 hp. The maximum speed is acceptable 180 km/h.
The great charm of the new Nissan X-Trail is that it doesn’t require charging: just pour petrol into the tank, as usual, and go.

This is no longer a traditional crossover, but a real BELAZ, but a small one.
