The Astrakhan garrison military court sentenced private Kashin to a suspended sentence for repeated drunk driving and assault on police officers – Kashin beat two people. This is stated in the court decision reviewed by socialbites.ca.
According to the document, on the evening of February 18, 2024, Astrakhan traffic police stopped military Kashin for driving a Mitsubishi Lancer. The man smelled of alcohol, so they decided to suspend him from driving. Kashin began to behave aggressively and was handcuffed. Trying to free himself, he kicked the traffic cop in the head.
The driver refused to take a breathalyzer test at the scene and was then taken to a drug treatment clinic, where he kicked another officer in the stomach. Alcohol and tetrahydrocannabinol (found in marijuana) were found in Kashin’s system.
One of the police officers was diagnosed with a pelvic contusion, and the other with a frontotemporal lobe abrasion. The court ruled that these injuries were not life-threatening and not dangerous to health.
The verdict states that Kashin was accepted into military service under contract in the summer of 2023, and soon he was assigned to the position of a grenade launcher. After a fight with the police, the man decided to continue his service in the special operations zone – on July 31 he signed a new contract with the Ministry of Defense. In addition, Kashin donated 20 thousand rubles to the Raduga social center for minors. The court considered these circumstances, as well as the man’s remorse, as mitigating, and considered the fact that Kashin grew up without a father, living with his mother and grandmother.
The court found Kashin guilty of drunk driving and violence against government officials. The soldier was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison, suspended, and 2 years of probation. Kashin’s Mitsubishi Lancer was confiscated for the state.
The verdict also states that Kashin was convicted of drunk driving in 2021. Later, the court sentenced him to work in a correctional facility; later the sentence was replaced by 4 months in a penal colony.
Earlier in Kaluga, a military was attacked on commuter train passengers and escaped from prison.
