Rust on a car’s brake discs may be an indication of a fault. reports “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” with reference to Roman Timashov, director of after-sales service of cars of Avtodom Altufyevo.
“If we are driving a car and the brake discs remain rusty, this indicates that the brake system is faulty or the brake discs are worn out. If part of the brake disc is rusted, the effectiveness of the contact between the brake pad materials and the disc surface decreases. Accordingly, the force applied to the brake pedal can be increased, as well as the braking distance and stopping time of the car,” Timashov said.
According to the expert, after rain, brake discs are often covered with a yellow-red coating. If the brake system is working properly, the discs should clean themselves.
It happened before that knownSqueaking car brakes can be a sign of incorrectly selected pads and discs. Most often, manufacturers of spare parts recommend installing discs and pads from the same manufacturer. In this case, these parts will work most effectively.
Brakes can also creak due to cheap pads that use a low-quality compound. Another cause of unpleasant noise is that the pad does not fully separate from the brake disc. There must be a small gap between the parts for air to pass through to cool the system. Without this, heating will lead to a characteristic creaking sound during braking.
