The Moscow Arbitration Court registered the bankruptcy claim of Silver Basis Investment Development Company of Hong Kong against JSC Moscow Automobile Plant Moskvich. writes about this RBC.
The essence of the claims is that in 2020, Silver Basis and Renault Russia reached an agreement on the development and supply of tooling for the production of parts for Renault cars. The equipment was to be transferred to the contractor AD Plastik Tolyatti for the production of special components for AvtoVAZ.
However, after Renault left Russia, the project was stopped, which led to the halt of Renault car production in the country.
According to the bankruptcy claim, the customer paid only a part of the total amount under the contract (approximately 383 thousand euros of 2,866 million euros between 2020 and 2021).
The next payment was due in August 2021, but the money did not arrive. It was later proposed to postpone the final payment to July 2022 or split it in half, but the money was never transferred.
As a result, the creditor went to court with a request to collect the debt from Moskvich, the legal successor of Renault Russia.
In August 2023, the Moscow Arbitration Court upheld the claim and obliged Moskvich to pay a debt of 2.475 million euros and a penalty of 124 thousand euros. The decision was approved at the appeal stage.
