The growth rate of automobile imports through parallel imports in Russia has decreased significantly, reports “Autostat Information”.
According to him, the number of registrations of cars imported through parallel imports increased by 3% from July to August 2023. Moreover, the growth from June to July was 15%. While 15 thousand passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were registered as parallel imports in August, 14.7 thousand parallel imports were made in July.
During the eight months of 2023, 67.8 thousand cars imported through parallel imports were registered in Russia; this accounts for 10% of all registered cars. By the end of summer, their number reached 666 thousand units.
In August, the most popular crossover for parallel imports was the Kia Sportage crossover (805 such vehicles were registered), followed by Toyota Camry (741 vehicles) and Hyundai Tucson (559 vehicles). Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota RAV4 also took part in the top five.
