The traffic police recorded a significant increase in accidents on toll roads in Russia in 2021. Information about this is contained in the statistical report of the department (available at the disposal of socialbites.ca).
“In such accidents, 665 (+24.8) people died, 130 (+47.7) people died and 869 (+19.2) people were injured. “There were 77 accidents in which 10 people lost their lives and 96 people were injured in the sections of these roads within the boundaries of settlements,” it said.
The most dangerous in terms of accidents are sections of federal highways in residential areas. The department has calculated that the probability of an accident on these parts of the route is 2.5 times higher than on average on roads of this status, the risk of fatal injury in such accidents is about 2 times higher. In general, the risk of accidents on federal highways is 6-7 times higher than on regional and inter-municipal roads.
